A native of china, Mona Wu came to the states in 1971. She studied Chinese painting and calligraphy in Hong Kong. Since residing in Winston-Salem in 1974, she had taught Chinese Brush Stroke Painting at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Art from 1981-1998. In 1996 Mona received her BA in Art History from Salem College. Starting from 1997 Mona has been taking printmaking classes from David Faber at Wake Forest University. In the same year she began working part time at Reynolda House Museum of American Art as coordinator of Older Adults Art Discovery Program until 2005. Mona has taught many workshops on Chinese painting, Chinese art appreciation, and printmaking classes at the Sawtooth Center, Salem College Community School, Wake Forest Anthropology Museum and Reynolda House Museum of American Art.
Mona was selected as Winston-Salem Sawtooth Center for Visual Art Artist of the Year 2003.
Mona is a member of Artworks Gallery, an artist co-op organization and Associated Artists of Winston-Salem.
