I am a self-taught artist. I have collected beads and made jewelry since I was a child. I began with macramé and collecting beads from beach bead shops in the late 1960's. My first jewelry sales came in junior high, when classmates saw the jewelry I had created, and asked me to make pieces for them. Today my beads come from all over - estate sales and local bead shops wherever I travel, to found objects that pique my interest. 

Yes I really do still have some beads that I bought back when candy bars were 10¢ each.

Each piece I create is unique, partly because of the depth of my collection, and partly because I usually have the idea for the next piece in the midst of creating the one at hand. My studio is a mess – but the colors (beads) playing together on my workbench are what inspire me. I see a combination of beads, and think to myself – that is where I want to go next. It is such fun.
