Throughout life, many people find great love and affection for their pets. This unique bond creates a special spot in one’s heart. My husband and I have recently adopted our second dog an 11 month old Great Dane which my husband named “Lennox Lewis,” after the heavyweight champ of the world. What we didn’t know was he would turn out to be the biggest cuddle dog of all. Lily-Anne, our 3 ½ Weimaraner / Australian Shepherd rescue dog, has fallen well into the role of mother of the house and is the referee between Lennox and Kitty. We also have the oldest and wisest princess Toni D, who is the Amazon queen of our backyard when not enjoying her lavish cat house retreat.

The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc. (MAGDRL) was organized in 1979 to serve the seven states of the Mid-Atlantic region. MAGDRL is staffed completely by volunteers. Like all humane groups, MAGDRL is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In our case, the pets are Great Danes and mixed Dane dogs, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general. |
